Founded in 1951 by H. Neil Mallon, the late chairman of Dresser Industries, the World Affairs Council strives to educate and engage Americans on global issues. For the past 30 years, the organization has presented the Mallon Award to someone who has succeeded in promoting the international focus of North Texas. Past recipients include Stanley Marcus, Ray L. Hunt, President George H.W. Bush, Ross Perot, Ross Perot Jr. and Trammell Crow.
