The Chiapas Project on CBS 11 TV

Picture 1(2)
Dallas real estate developer Lucy Billingsley founded The Chiapas Project after meeting Alex Counts, president of Grameen Foundation, and hearing him speak of the power and principles of microfinance. She extensively researched the concept of microfinance and realized it was a viable and proven business solution to poverty. Lucy then recruited 30 women to travel to Chiapas, Mexico’s poorest state, to see firsthand the power of microfinance at work. The inspired entourage returned to Dallas and mobilized their forces under the name The Chiapas Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
